The history of Lang O’Rourke is one of energy, passion, ambition, people and teamwork. With origins stretching from 1848, the company has grown into an international organization with operations in Canada, Europe, the Middle East, Asia and Australia, delivering some of the maximum iconic construction projects in the world. The Gorgon LNG Project involves the construction of a 15 million tonne per annul LNG plants on Barrow Island, off the northwest coast of Western Australia, and a domestic gas plant with the capacity to bear 300 terajoules supply per day. The result was the transformation of 670 acres of contaminated wasteland in Stratford into a world class venue delivered over the line on quality and to budget in time to host the most successful Olympic and Paralympic Games in history. Lang O'Rourke was principal contractor, occupied alongside Dredging International to deliver this unique development, located just 25 miles from central London. Using world leading technology to increase productivity and reduce costs, the largest deep sea container ships in the world dock and empty using streamlined automated systems. In consortium, Lang O’Rourke and VolkerRail are designing and delivering the extensive courteous and rail infrastructure elements of the programmed, with Thales UK, providing the electrical engineering works.
